Nest Centre
SWC were brought on as landscape consultants with Strom Architects for The Nest project, a centre designed for young people in Suffolk experiencing bad mental health. The landscape design paid attention to patient’s overall experience at the centre, including the journey from car to front door, and the building’s relationship with the garden as an indoor -outdoor classroom.
We designed the spaces to both be intimate as to create areas to linger and enjoy the garden whilst avoiding obscuring any spaces with planting or furniture as required to ensure the safety of the patients.
We zoned the master plan to create a cohesive rural, semi-agricultural mix of uses including animal paddocks, a productive garden, enclosed care centre garden, and public pond space with farm shop spill out.
